A ranch floorplan home is a very sought after style of house. But they can be a little hard to find… in Highlands Ranch, anyhow! Highlands Ranch became home to its first family in 1981, so the community, as a whole, is pretty new… a mere 30 years old. The majority of homes in Highlands Ranch are 2-story homes.
The ranch architectural style of home originated in the US in the 1920s, and was very popular from about 1940-1970. Highlands Ranch was built after the ranch-craze, so home-buyers looking in Highlands Ranch for a ranch will need to make sure they are ready to sign on the dotted line quickly if they find one that meets their needs. These homes tend to have an open floorplan and everything is on one level, making it a popular choice for anyone with mobility concerns.
The hotspots in Highlands Ranch for single family homes with ranch floorplans are going to be The Retreat, The Village, and Gleneagle’s Village. All of these neighborhoods are off of Gleneagle’s Village Pkwy, the street that connects Quebec St to Cresthill Ln.
And there are certainly ranches and homes with main floor masters throughout various communities in Highlands Ranch… they just aren’t as available as the 2-story home is in Highlands Ranch.
If you head toward the south side of Highlands Ranch, there is a community called Highlands Walk (at McArthur & Grigs). While you won’t find a ranch floorplan here, you may be able to find a bedroom on the main floor. One of the nice features about Highlands Walk is that it is maintenance-free living in a single family home. Your HOA will cover exterior maintenance, grounds maintenance, and snow removal.
